چکیده
This review covers the literature in neuroendocrinology published during 1966 and 1967. A selected group of papers have been analyzed which, in the author's opinion, have contributed significantly to the field of neuroendocrinology during the past two years. This review is not intended to be a complete summary of the literature and the author assumes full responsibility both for the particular selections and for any omissions. Interest in neuroendocrinology has continued to grow and a number of excellent reviews have appeared during 1966 and 1967.'''

Hypothalamic control of the pituitary-gonadal axis in higher primates: key advances over the last two decades.
This review provides a brief historical background to the foundation of primate reproductive neuroendocrinology that was laid by Ernst Knobil during the late 1960s and early 1970s. This is followed by a discussion of studies conducted over the last two decades that I view as having contributed to the current understanding of the field of primate reproductive neuroendocrinology. The review concl...

A short historical review from the early days of neuroendocrinology is presented recognizing hormones secreted by the pituitary gland; control of its functions by nuclei of the hypothalamus through the release of unknown substances in special capillary vessels; characterization of these releasing factors as peptides; studies of their mode of action; their use in clinical medicine; new and still...
متن کاملLithium augmentation therapy in refractory depression: clinical evidence and neurobiological mechanisms.
OBJECTIVE This systematic review examines the evidence and discusses the clinical relevance of lithium augmentation as a treatment strategy for refractory major depressive episodes. It also examines hypotheses on the mode of action of lithium augmentation, with a focus on serotonin (5-HT) and neuroendocrine systems, and proposes recommendations for future research. METHOD We searched the Medl...
متن کاملNeuroendocrinology and its Quantitative Development: A Bioengineering View
Biomedical engineering is clearly present in modern neuroendocrinology, and indeed has come to embrace it in many respects. First, we briefly review the origins of endocrinology until neuroendocrinology, after a long saga, was established in the 1950's decade with quantified results made possible by the radioimmunoassay technique (RIA), a development contributed by the physical sciences. Howeve...
متن کاملThe Clinicopathologic Heterogeneity of Grade 3 Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Neoplasms: Morphological Differentiation and Proliferation Identify Different Prognostic Categories.
BACKGROUND/AIMS Gastroenteropancreatic (GEP) neuroendocrine carcinomas (NECs) are defined as neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) with a Ki-67 index >20% according to the 2010 WHO classification. Some reports suggest that this category is heterogeneous. We retrospectively studied a series of 136 patients affected by grade 3 GEP-NECs with the aim to clarify the prognostic role of tumor morphological ...
